Lake Michigan League of Women Voters Annual Meeting

Join LWV members from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin at the Illinois Beach Resort and Conference Center at the Illinois Beach State Park in Zion.

The Board meets for a working lunch at noon on Friday. Everyone is welcome. This will be followed by a visit to the North Shore Sanitary District's sludge burner; the first in this country, and a walk along the Des Plaines River Wetlands Demonstration Project. A member of the team will show us this 550-acre site which had been abandoned farm fields and gravel quarry pits and is now a rehabilitated ecosystem. After dinner, we will have a fascinating program. After the Saturday morning annual meeting, we'll have a guided walk of the state park. This is the only remaining beach ridge shoreline left in the state.
